PSYCHOTHERAPY & COUNSELING
HOLISTIC MIND-BODY HEALTH SERVICES
Provided by Kimberly H. McKie, BSN, MS, EFT-ADV at Hammond-Beyer Health Center
Hammond-Beyer Health Center welcomes Kimberly H. McKie, BSN, MS, EFT-ADV, to their practice. Kim
McKie has a unique and extensive background in both traditional and alternative healthcare.  She is a registered
nurse, a counselor, an ordained minister, and an alternative health practitioner. She offers a holistic approach to
healthcare that emphasizes the dynamic interplay of mind, body, emotions, and spirit.
After earning a Bachelors degree in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia, Kim began her career as
a registered nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. During her 13
years as an RN, she observed how advances in technology greatly impacted the hospital’s ability to save
premature babies. “It became possible to save some babies with a gestational age as young as 24 weeks,” Kim
said. Yet, despite the advances in technology, she realized that there were other, less tangible factors affecting
outcomes as well: a soothing environment, skin-to-skin contact, and an emotional connection to others. She found
herself helping new parents work through the stages of grief and bond with their babies in the sterile NICU
environment. Her compassion and interest in helping others led her to return to school to earn a Master’s degree
in Psychology.

When her youngest son was diagnosed with CHARGE Syndrome and autism, Kim began to research
alternative medicine. She found a clinic that specialized in Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET)
and was amazed at her son’s response to treatment. This approach involves identifying foods and environmental
allergens, and then eliminating them by removing blockages and balancing the body’s energy system.
From an Oriental perspective, our energy system is like a grid throughout the body which extends past the
physical limits of the body. This energy field acts as a filter as it interacts with the environment. Blockages can
occur with exposure to environmental toxins, such as the artificial preservatives found in today’s heavily
processed foods. For example, propylene glycol, which is a food additive commonly used in ice cream and salad
dressing, is actually a type of antifreeze.
Kim began training as a NAET specialist and found that it complemented her training as a nurse and a
counselor. Many of her patients who were experiencing emotional problems were also experiencing physical
problems. The mind-body connection is very real. Emotional memory is stored in the body, and physical
symptoms do not occur randomly. “Illness and pain are the body’s attempt to call attention to something that
needs to be addressed,” Kim said. She often finds symbolic meaning associated with specific symptoms. For
example, stomach problems could signal that the patient has been repressing and swallowing emotion.  Pain in the
feet and legs may indicate a perception of immobilization and an inability to move forward. Someone who carries
tension in her shoulders often feels the weight of the world on them.
As an ordained minister, Kim applies spiritual principles in her work if appropriate. She believes in taking a
holistic approach to helping others. Her energy work pulls together all the elements of physical, emotional, and
spiritual healing.
Kim McKie offers private sessions on weekdays and evenings by appointment. During the initial visit, she
will evaluate the patient’s needs and help them develop an individualized treatment plan. She offers the following
services at Hammond-Beyer Health Center:

EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE (EFT)
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a method of balancing the body’s energy system to alleviate emotional
suffering. EFT can be applied to almost all emotional/mental health issues including post-traumatic stress
disorder, anxiety, anger, depression, fears, phobias, addictions, relationship issues, weight loss, pain relief, school
performance, sports performance, sexual issues, and some serious diseases.

NAMBUDRIPAD’S ALLERGY ELIMINATION TECHNIQUE (NAET)
NAET is another method for balancing the body’s energy system. It is used most frequently for physical issues
related to allergens, which are disrupting the system. Some symptoms of energy allergy are pain, abdominal
bloating, hiccups, high energy, low energy, fatigue, insomnia, restlessness, tingling, heart palpitation or arrhythmia,
increased blood pressure, loss of sexual drive, anxiety, nervousness, depression, mood swings, crying spells,
blurred vision, throat constriction, headaches, nausea, vomiting, food cravings, numbness, and suicidal thoughts.

SPIRITUAL COUNSELING
Kimberly McKie has a master’s degree in psychology. She believes in taking a holistic approach to helping others
with their mental and physical health issues. She is also an ordained minister and as such applies spiritual principles
in her work. Counseling sessions incorporate EFT and NAET modalities as well as a more traditional method of
“talk therapy.”

ION DETOXIFICATION FOOTBATH

The ion detoxification footbath is the most gentle approach to ridding the body of unwanted toxins. We are
exposed to more and more toxins daily. If allowed to accumulate in the body, they can lead to illness and disease.

HEALTH EDUCATION
Kimberly McKie has 13 years of experience working as an RN in intensive care units. She believes in providing
everyone with basic, natural, and holistic health knowledge. This knowledge empowers people to make their own
educated healthcare choices.
